It has been reported by the end of the year RIM (Research in motion) will be releasing a new Blackberry Smartphone with Wifi support.
It will be real interesting to see how much wifi the carriers will allow to be availble. I know the data plans for the Blackberry are strong sources of econimic revenue but with many offices now being wireless that could change. Now for the blackberry user on the go a dedicated 3g data plan will always be needed. I can remeber when I got my T-mobile MDA and found it was only allowing only 802.11B wifi support. I did not like it all when every other device in the home had 802.11G support. Luckily a reg hack for the mda changed that around.
It is not cool for carriers to cripple the full ability of the devices that we pay for through their iron clad yearly contracts.
